Activity 4: Multiple Perspective

Those who are getting affected by any sort of transaction whether monetary or not are called stakeholders. Stakeholders means viewpoints or our translation or understanding, the stakeholders are the people getting affected from the situation.

To explain this better, let's take an example of a play school or a crush, where there are plenty toddlers and one nanny. She's got to take care of all of them. Here the core stakeholders are toddlers, the nanny and the parents of the toddlers. You might think that there aren't any parents in the picture. But the reason I have listed them is because the parents have a direct relation to toddlers being sent to the play school. Indirect stakeholders would be caretaker or nanny's family, in-house staff and security staff. Why these are coming under indirect stakeholders is because they are also being impacted by the situation but they are getting effected indirectly.

Stakeholder mapping is the visual process of laying out all the stakeholders of a product, project or idea on one map. The main benefit of a stakeholder map is to get official representation of all the people who can influence your project and how they are connected.

Reflection

- The stakeholder mapping helps discover potential solutions to given problem or scenario because making this map helps in assessing the situation. Making a stakeholder map is like a hierarchy or a family tree. The larger you think the more you realise why this situation is taking place.

- Using stakeholder maps actively supports you and keeps your brain looking for multiple perspectives. To conclude, stakeholder mapping serves as a reference for a design solution. Stakeholders maps are used to document the key stakeholders and their relationship.

- As a group, we were able to contribute equally to the stakeholder map. It was a joint effort where we shared our ideas and views. While categorizing the stakeholders into direct and indirect, we were confused about which category a few stakeholders would fall into. After receiving feedback from our tutor, we were able to identify and place them accordingly.
