My experience of the Isometric system (reflective note)
What is your understanding of the isometric system of drawing? How is it similar / different from the other systems of drawing that you are used to practicing?
Isometric drawing is a 3-dimensional form of drawing. All lines have equal measure, lines are parallel to each other and there is a sense of depth but without any sense of perspective. All three faces of a a figure can be seen and this simple concept can be used be used to make complex work of arts.
Isometric drawing is very different to normal drawing as it acts like a schematic drawing which makes it easy for anyone to gain understanding of the what the 3-dimensional representation would look like.
Whenever I might have to communicate a 3-dimensional concept to someone, I know that by knowing isometric drawing and its concept, I can easily come up with accurate 3-dimensional drawings on a piece of paper and the other person will be able to understand it. For example it will bring clarity to a designer of any discipline to understand the overall project regarding the general arrangement of pipes or bricks. It is a good way of showing measurements and how components fit together. Unlike perspective drawings, they don't get smaller as the lines go into the distance.
